Simeulue Regency boosts tourism infrastructure to increase visitor numbers

The Simeulue Regency government is undertaking a strategic initiative to bolster its tourism sector by significantly upgrading infrastructure across its key attractions. This effort aims to attract a greater number of visitors to the islands located in Aceh Province. The focus is on improving access, ensuring cleanliness, and enhancing public amenities within tourist areas.

Regent Muhammad Nasrun Mikaris emphasized that infrastructure development is crucial for the advancement of tourism. Beyond physical improvements, the local government is also forging partnerships with private entities for the management of tourist sites. Additionally, plans are in motion to intensify promotional activities highlighting the region's unique offerings to draw both domestic and international travelers.

Simeulue Island's primary draw is its world-class surfing, which attracts many international visitors. Consistent waves available year-round make it a prime destination for surfers. The regency also boasts other attractions, including beautiful beaches, underwater scenery, local culture, and distinct cuisine, appealing to a broad range of tourists. The local community is encouraged to maintain the natural beauty and hospitality towards visitors, which contributes to the positive visitor experience and economic growth.

The positive trend in tourist arrivals is expected to stimulate the local economy. Both regional and provincial governments are supporting these development efforts, recognizing tourism's direct economic impact on the community. Simeulue, an outer island territory of Aceh Province situated in the Indian Ocean, is geographically distinct and has a population of approximately 96,000 people spread across 10 sub-districts.
