Simone Tebet Registers Senate Bid for São Paulo, Declares R$10.6 Million in Assets

Simone Tebet, a former Minister of Planning, has officially registered her candidacy for the Senate in São Paulo, declaring a net worth of R$10.6 million to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). This represents a substantial increase from the R$2.3 million she declared in 2022 when running for president. The significant rise in her declared assets is largely attributed to rural lands in Alvorada do Sul (MS) valued at R$8.9 million, which were not included in her previous declaration. Tebet's campaign is part of the "Federação Brasil da Esperança" coalition, led by President Lula. Recent polling by Ideia/ACSP places her at the forefront of the Senate race in São Paulo, with 26.8% of voter intentions. Tebet brings extensive political experience to the race, having begun her career in 2002. She has served as a state deputy, mayor of Três Lagoas, vice-governor of Mato Grosso do Sul, and a federal senator for the state, a position she held until 2023.
