Sinaloa Governor Visits Flood-Hit Areas, Launches Aid Program for Victims

Sinaloa's interim governor, Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde, has personally visited Mocorito, a municipality in the state severely affected by recent heavy rains and subsequent flooding. The deluge caused significant damage to homes and roads, prompting an immediate response from state authorities.

To aid those displaced and impacted, a relief program has been launched in the affected areas. Brigades accompanied the governor, distributing 25,000 liters of water, 600 food packages, 350 mattresses, 100 stove kits with gas tanks, and other essential items. Health authorities were also present, providing medical supplies and distributing mosquito repellent to prevent disease outbreaks in stagnant water.

Governor Bonilla Valverde announced that a census is underway to document the losses incurred by residents in the municipalities of Guasave, Mocorito, and Salvador Alvarado. This assessment will help estimate the damage to household belongings and inform subsequent recovery efforts. The governor assured residents that all needs would be addressed and lost household items replaced once a comprehensive understanding of the damage to both the population and infrastructure is established.

Accompanied by military officials and cabinet members, the governor also inspected damaged road sections. The Secretariat of Public Works is set to initiate a rehabilitation program for these affected routes. The state government's swift response aims to mitigate the immediate crisis and begin the process of rebuilding and restoring normalcy for the affected communities in Sinaloa.
