Singer Carmen Șerban's car falls into Bucharest crater: 'Don't ask me how I got out!'

Romanian singer Carmen Șerban narrowly escaped unharmed after her car plunged into a massive crater that unexpectedly opened up on Eroilor Boulevard in Bucharest.

The terrifying ordeal unfolded Thursday afternoon when a section of the road abruptly gave way, creating a significant sinkhole on one of the capital's busiest streets. Șerban recounted the frightening moments on social media, describing how her car fell into the chasm. She managed to drive out of the hole, though her vehicle suffered damage and now needs repairs.

"I fell into this hole... don't ask me how I got out because I don't know," Șerban wrote on Facebook. She explained that both left wheels of her car went into the crater, and for a moment, she feared the vehicle was destroyed. "I drove with both left wheels through it and the car fell, and I got out in a second... it pulls hard to the left now. I have to take it to the service. Fortunately, I am okay and I will go to a mechanic tonight to check the underside of the car. I was very scared but thank God it's only this much," she added.

The incident occurred just a few hundred meters from Cotroceni Palace. Authorities quickly responded to the scene, cordoning off the area and initiating checks with the water company Apa Nova to determine the cause of the collapse. Traffic was restricted while repair work commenced, with the city hall announcing that the situation was expected to be resolved by the following morning. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported, though the road damage and Șerban's vehicle repairs highlight the severity of the collapse.
