Singer Nourul Wahab wants son Zachary to be a pilot first

Singer Nourul Wahab is guiding her 13-year-old son, Zachary, toward his aspiration of becoming a pilot, placing a singing career as a secondary option. Nourul, whose full name is Noorulhuda Abdul Wahab, emphasized that this decision is not meant to stifle her son's passion but to secure his academic future.

"He's always performing at school. We don't mind, but he actually wants to be a pilot," Nourul told Utusan Malaysia. "So, we are focusing on him becoming a pilot first. If he wants to sing later, that's a second choice."

Nourul and her husband aim to provide Zachary with a clear understanding of the realities and potential earnings of both professions. "We don't mind if he wants to be a singer because my husband and I give him freedom. We explain that being an artist is like this, and becoming a pilot is like that," she said. "We give our children the choice to think and decide for themselves. Once he makes a decision, he must be responsible for it."

Nourul shared her surprise at Zachary's keen interest in traditional Malaysian music and the works of the late Datuk Sudirman Arshad, as well as his ability to recall her own songs. "I was surprised he likes traditional Malaysian songs and old songs I used to sing. He memorized my songs like 'Kerana Terluka' and 'Cinta Azali' in secret," she said.

She added, "We are very proud because for his age, about to turn 13 in October, he is brave enough to sing and dance in front of people. He really enjoys it without any nervousness." Zachary recently captivated fans by performing the traditional song 'Joget Kenangan Manis' at Nourul's 'Konsert For You Nourul' in Zepp KL.
