Situation has changed, not in Russia's favor: Rubio explains US approach to Ukraine war

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio believes the dynamics of the war in Ukraine have changed, and not in Russia's favor. Speaking in an interview with "Fox News," Rubio highlighted that the United States aims to play a constructive role in ending the conflict, a goal it has pursued since the war's inception.

Rubio noted that Ukrainian forces are now capable of launching long-range strikes deep into Russian territory, effectively extending the conflict into Russia itself. He stated that the U.S. is currently assessing whether this shift in battlefield momentum might create an opening for diplomatic negotiations.

"The dynamics of the conflict have changed somewhat over the past few months," Rubio said. "The Ukrainians are now capable of striking deep into Russian territory, moving the war into Russian territory. We want to find out if this new dynamic has opened the door for a negotiated settlement."

The U.S. intends to make an effort to revive talks between Russia and Ukraine within the next few weeks. However, Rubio cautioned that both sides maintain rigid "red lines," and progress toward a resolution will be challenging unless these positions can be brought closer together.
