Six Civilians Killed, Four Injured in Ukrainian Missile Attack on Russia's Belgorod Region

An attack using Ukrainian missiles on Russia's Belgorod border region resulted in the deaths of at least six civilians and injured four others on Monday. The acting local governor, Alexander Shuvayev, reported that the missiles struck the village of Koloskovo in the Valuisky district.

"The terrorists of Kyiv attacked the village of Koloskovo in the Valuisky district with missiles. Six civilians died, another four, including a minor, were injured," Shuvayev stated on the Russian messaging platform MAX. He extended condolences to the families of the victims.

Among the injured is a 14-year-old. Two of the wounded received medical attention but declined hospitalization, while the others, including the minor, were admitted to the central hospital in Valuyki. The attack also caused a building to catch fire and damaged a vehicle at the site.

Reports from the local Telegram channel Pépel suggested that more than ten civilians may have died, potentially from missiles or bombs launched by Ukraine's air force. Civilian casualties on both sides have increased recently due to escalating attacks on rear areas. This incident follows a report from Russia's special envoy for the Foreign Ministry, Rodion Miroshnik, stating that at least 201 civilians were killed in July. The independent Russian project Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT) estimated 634 civilian victims from both countries in July, with nearly 30% of the total casualties being civilians in Russian territory or Russian-controlled Ukrainian regions.
