Six firms eye $26.5 million Panama road project in Chiriquí

Six companies have shown interest in a significant road infrastructure project in Panama's Chiriquí province, signaling active engagement in public works development. The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) recently conducted a homologation meeting for the "Rehabilitation of the CPA David–Frontera and Interchanges in the city of David, Phase I" project.

This initiative, valued at a reference price of $26.5 million, is designed to enhance mobility and road safety along a critical corridor experiencing high traffic volume. The project focuses on the section between the entrance of the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (Unachi) and the beginning of the bridge over the Las Lajas stream, involving comprehensive rehabilitation and maintenance work.

Key components of the project include the design and construction of two vehicular bridges over the San Cristóbal stream. One bridge will span 30 meters on the right side of the Pan-American Highway, while the second will measure 35 meters on the left side. Additionally, the work will address strategic segments of the CPA David–Frontera, specifically the routes connecting to the hospital zone and the city's industrial area.

During the homologation meeting, representatives from the interested companies posed technical questions and offered observations on the bidding documents. The MOP stated that this exchange clarified technical and administrative aspects, paving the way for the subsequent stages of the contracting process. The ministry anticipates that the project will incorporate modern traffic solutions to streamline transit, reduce travel times, and bolster connectivity between David and its vital hospital, industrial, and commercial zones.
