Six Killed in Guatemala City Shooting

At least six people died and two were injured in a shooting that occurred Saturday night in Villa Canales, a municipality in Guatemala City. Emergency services confirmed the attack, which is currently under investigation by authorities. The incident took place in the Boca del Monte sector, near a residence, according to local media reports.

This latest massacre brings the total number of firearm homicides in Guatemala to 3,020 in 2025, an increase of 3.8% compared to the 2,910 recorded in 2024. The national statistics were released by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif).

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims. The violence in Guatemala continues to be a significant concern, with previous incidents, such as a massacre in a cevichería in northern Guatemala City in April, also attributed to gang violence. The ongoing bloodshed highlights the persistent challenges in ensuring public safety in the Central American nation.
