Six suspects arrested, weapons seized in Hidalgo operation

An operation involving federal forces in Huichapan, Hidalgo, led to the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of eight firearms, according to the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena).

The intervention, which occurred on Tuesday, was the result of surveillance patrols and ground reconnaissance by elements of the Mexican Army and the National Guard, in coordination with state and federal security secretariats. During the operation, authorities detected a group of armed subjects, leading to the detention of the six individuals.

In addition to the firearms, six long guns and two handguns, authorities also confiscated numerous magazines and cartridges of various calibers, two vehicles, and tactical equipment. The arrested individuals, along with the seized vehicles and weapons, have been placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office (FGR) for further legal proceedings.

Sedena reported that these arrests contribute to a significant national tally. During the current administration, a total of 51,728 alleged criminals have been detained across the country. Furthermore, security forces have secured 25,840 firearms, over 4.6 million cartridges, and 116,232 magazines as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal structures.
