SLHS Becomes Absolute Requirement, 9 MBG Kitchens in DIY Without Certificates Reported

The implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program in Indonesia's Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) is facing challenges, with nine food service units (dapur MBG) still operating without the mandatory Sanitation Hygiene Certificate (SLHS). The deadline for obtaining this certification was August 10.

Out of 424 operational food service units, 415 have successfully obtained their SLHS. However, the remaining nine units, despite being operational, have not yet met this crucial requirement. Dr. Gregorius Anung Trihadi, Head of the DIY Health Office, emphasized that the SLHS is a non-negotiable prerequisite for all units involved in the MBG program.

945 units are operating, but only 415 have SLHS as of today. So, there are SPPGs that are registered but do not have SLHS, but only a few SPPGs that are already operating but do not have SLHS. This is what was then reinforced by BGN. So, all must have SLHS to be able to operate or operational.

During a coordination meeting on MBG programs with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), it was reiterated that SLHS is an absolute condition for operation. Trihadi confirmed that the BGN stressed the "0 or 1" nature of the requirement, meaning units must either have the certificate or they cannot operate.

The DIY Health Office plans to coordinate further to ensure these nine units comply. The SLHS is issued by the respective district or city governments, and the issue has been reported to them. The program aims to provide nutritious meals, and ensuring hygiene standards through the SLHS is considered vital for public health and food safety.
