Slovenian cyclists achieve career-best results at European Championship

Slovenian mountain biker Vita Movrin achieved a career-best ninth place at the European Championship in Monte Ceneri, Switzerland, showcasing her growing prowess in the sport. Movrin, who recently won national titles in both short and Olympic cross-country formats, overcame a minor bout of illness to compete.

Despite a recent viral infection, Movrin delivered a strong performance against tough international competition. Her ninth-place finish adds to a season of consistent improvement, following a previous career-best 16th place in the short track at the World Cup in Andorra. This result signals Slovenia's emergence of a formidable competitor on the European stage.

Other Slovenian riders also impressed. Maruša Tereza Šerkezi, the reigning world champion in the junior women's Olympic cross-country, battled for ninth place in a large group, securing the position after a demanding race. In the junior women's category, Eva Terpin, in her first year competing at this level, achieved an excellent sixth place, demonstrating significant potential for the future.

While Movrin's success in the short track is notable, expectations remain high for her performance in the Olympic cross-country event. The European Championship was won by Switzerland's Sina Frei, with fellow Swiss rider Alessandra Keller taking second, and Sweden's Jenny Rissveds in third.
