Slovenian Students Struggle with Reading Comprehension

Slovenian third-graders are facing significant challenges with reading comprehension, with national assessments revealing that a mere twenty percent can understand what they read. This alarming statistic highlights a broader issue of functional literacy within the country.

A 2016 international study on functional literacy among Slovenian adults indicated that one in four could not grasp the meaning of texts or practically apply information to everyday challenges at work, home, or in society.
