Slovenian volleyball player champions water volleyball event

Alan Košenina, a prominent figure in Slovenian volleyball, is lending his support to an upcoming water volleyball tournament on the Ljubljanica river. Košenina, who achieved national championship status with the Maribor club and now coaches and competes internationally in beach volleyball, has become a key advocate for the water volleyball event.

He initially joined the first tournament as a player at the invitation of Nejc Zemljak. However, his involvement quickly deepened as he embraced the idea and concept behind the event. Košenina expressed his satisfaction that the story of Maribor's volleyball success is being told by individuals who grew up alongside the club.

It means a lot to me that the story of Maribor's volleyball success is being written by the guys who grew up with the club.

Košenina's own journey in volleyball began at the Maribor club when he was just six years old. By the age of twenty-four, he had celebrated a national championship title with the team. In recent years, he has focused on coaching while also competing. Currently, he is in Poland with his teammate Črtomir Bošnjak, participating in a World Series beach volleyball tournament.

His engagement with water volleyball stems from its growing popularity and his personal connection to the sport. The tournament is set to showcase the vibrant volleyball community in Slovenia and celebrate its local achievements.
