Smith, Williams qualify for 100m final at Commonwealth Games; no Jamaican men advance

Jamaican sprinters Jonielle Smith and Jodean Williams have secured spots in the women's 100m final at the Commonwealth Games. Both athletes finished third in their semi-final races on Tuesday at Glasgow's Scotstoun Stadium.

Smith clocked 11.07 seconds in her heat, finishing behind England's Amy Hunt (11.02) and New Zealand's Zoe Hobbs (11.04). Williams ran 11.13 seconds, trailing Australia's Torrie Lewis (11.00), an Australian national record, and Canada's Audrey Leduc (11.01).

However, the Jamaican men's team will not feature in the 100m final for the second consecutive Commonwealth Games. Ackeem Blake and Rohan Watson failed to advance past the semi-finals. Blake finished third in his heat with 10.06 seconds, while Watson was sixth in his race with 10.12 seconds.

The semi-final races were contested under challenging conditions with heavy rain. Despite the weather, several athletes achieved notable times, including Cameroon's Emmanuel Eseme, who won his heat in a national record of 9.89 seconds.
