Social Affairs Ministry Renovates 31 Homes for People's School Students' Parents in Tabanan

In a heartwarming initiative that underscores the Indonesian government's commitment to improving living conditions and educational access, the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has announced the renovation of 31 homes for parents of students attending a 'Sekolah Rakyat' in Tabanan, Bali. As reported by Republika, this program, slated to commence in June 2026, is a vital component of the Integrated Prosperous Housing (RST) effort. The swift response from Kemensos, following an audience with the Deputy Regent of Tabanan, I Made Dirga, highlights the government's dedication to addressing the needs of underprivileged families and ensuring that children have stable home environments conducive to learning.

A total of 31 homes of parents of students at Sekolah Rakyat in Tabanan have been included in the housing improvement program and are targeted to start construction in June 2026.

This renovation project specifically targets families who are considered 'prasejahtera' (underprivileged) and whose children are enrolled in nascent 'Sekolah Rakyat' programs, including the Sekolah Rakyat Mahatmiya Pintar (SRMP) 17 Tabanan, which currently supports 74 students. The initiative reflects a broader understanding within the Indonesian government that educational success is intrinsically linked to socio-economic stability. By improving the housing conditions of these families, Kemensos aims to create a more supportive ecosystem for the students, ensuring they can focus on their studies without the burden of living in inadequate housing.

This dual focus on improving existing facilities and developing new ones demonstrates a comprehensive strategy to expand educational opportunities across Indonesia.
