Sokoto ADC names Rep Ambarura as deputy gov candidate for 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nigeria's Sokoto State has put forward Bello Ambarura as its candidate for deputy governor in the 2027 elections. Ambarura, who represents the Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, will join forces with the party's gubernatorial hopeful, Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya.

The ADC announced the nomination on Monday, emphasizing that it followed extensive internal consultations and adheres to Section 187(1) of the 1999 Constitution. Party spokesperson Lamir Aminu described the decision as a move to assemble a leadership team that is both competent and focused on the needs of the people.

The nomination was made in accordance with Section 187(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), following wide consultations and careful consideration of the qualities required to build a strong, competent and people-oriented leadership team for Sokoto State.

Ambarura brings a wealth of experience to the ticket. He previously served in the Sokoto State Civil Service, rising to the position of Permanent Secretary, and later held the role of Commissioner for Commerce and Industries. His legislative career includes serving as Majority Leader in the Sokoto State House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023 before his election to the federal parliament.

The ADC expressed strong confidence that Ambarura's background in public administration and legislative work will significantly bolster the party's chances. "His extensive experience in public administration and legislative service will complement the vision and leadership of His Excellency, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya," Aminu stated. The party urged its members, supporters, and Sokoto residents to back the Dan-Iya/Ambarura ticket.
