Sokoto NYSC Camp Rehabilitation Nears Completion, N1.7bn Project Boosts Facilities

The rehabilitation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Wamakko, Sokoto State, is nearing completion, with 80 percent of the project finished. The upgrade, valued at ₦1.7 billion, is designed to enhance the welfare and experience of corps members serving in the state by bringing camp facilities up to modern standards.

Architect Murtala Haliru Rabah, the Project Coordinator, shared this progress during a media inspection tour. He affirmed his confidence that the contractor, SBG Enterprises and Construction Limited, will deliver the project within the agreed timeframe. Rabah emphasized that the rehabilitation adheres to contractual specifications and quality standards set by the state government. The project aims to provide a comprehensive facelift, including improved accommodation, administrative facilities, and essential infrastructure to ensure the comfort and safety of corps members and staff.

The project is designed to give the orientation camp a complete facelift by providing improved accommodation, administrative facilities and other critical infrastructure to enhance the comfort, safety and overall welfare of corps members and camp officials.

Rabah commended SBG Enterprises and Construction Limited for their consistent work pace and adherence to engineering standards. He highlighted that the completed project will enable Sokoto to host larger batches of corps members in a more conducive environment, thereby improving the efficiency of orientation programs. The project coordinator also acknowledged Governor Ahmed Aliyu's administration for prioritizing infrastructure development and investing in facilities that support youth development and public service delivery.

Site visits revealed extensive renovation work on major structures, with teams working across various sections to ensure timely completion. Kaseem Bello, the supervising engineer and representative of SBG Enterprises and Construction Limited, assured that the project would be delivered within the six-month contract period. Bello stated that work has surpassed 80 percent completion, with round-the-clock activities to meet the deadline.
