Soldiers rescue two kidnap victims in Plateau

Troops conducting "Operation ENDURING PEACE" in Nigeria's Plateau State have successfully rescued two individuals from kidnappers in separate operations. The Joint Task Force announced the successful rescues on Wednesday, highlighting the ongoing efforts to counter terrorism and internal security threats across the region.

As part of the ongoing Operations, at about 09:00am on Tuesday, 25 August 2025, troops of sector 3 deployed within Bassa Local Government Area, acting on a credible information on the kidnap of one Mr Ndubuisi Onuigbo, initiated search and rescue operation leading to the successful rescue of the kidnapped victim.

In one operation, troops deployed in Bassa Local Government Area responded to credible information about the abduction of Mr. Ndubuisi Onuigbo. A search and rescue operation was initiated, leading to the victim's safe recovery on Tuesday, August 25, 2025.

Similarly, at the early hours of today Wednesday, 26 August 2026, troops of sector 2 Operation ENDURING PEACE, deployed at Kukawa village in Kanam Local Government Area, during a fighting patrol encountered suspected terrorists elements along the patrol route. Troops aggressively pursued the terrorists leading to the immediate rescue of a kidnapped victim Mallam Sambo Abdullahi who was abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

In a separate incident early Wednesday, August 26, 2026, troops in Kanam Local Government Area encountered suspected terrorists during a patrol. The soldiers pursued the fleeing terrorists, resulting in the rescue of Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, who had been abandoned by his captors.

He further appealed for calm, caution and continued support to enable troops achieve their mandate of restoring the desired Enduring Peace in the Joint Operations Area.

Captain Chinonso Oteh, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, confirmed that both rescued victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families. Major General Maxwell Dangana, Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, commended the troops for their professionalism and decisive actions in disrupting criminal activities and restoring peace to the operational area. He urged the public to remain calm and continue supporting the troops' mandate.
