South Kalimantan Governor Denies Haji Isam Leads Fire Task Force, Cites Private Sector Aid

South Kalimantan Governor Muhidin has refuted claims that businessman Andi Syamsuddin Arsyad, widely known as Haji Isam, was appointed as the head of the task force for forest and land fire prevention (Karhutla).

Muhidin clarified that the government appointed the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, to lead the task force. Haji Isam's role is that of a private sector advisor, entrusted with assisting in the accelerated handling of Karhutla in the region.

His position is only as a private party who is entrusted to be involved in helping accelerate the handling of karhutla in that area.

In his capacity, Haji Isam has demonstrated his commitment on the ground. He has offered substantial support, including heavy equipment, water bombing services, and a financial contribution of Rp7.6 billion. This aid is designated for tactical needs in combating the fires over the next two weeks, alongside 100 water pumps he donated.

There are 100 water pumps that Haji Isam has helped with, and operational funds of Rp7.6 billion for the next two weeks.
