South Korean Marine found four days after failing to return from medical appointment

A South Korean Marine who left his unit for a hospital appointment and failed to return was found four days later near Ilsan in Goyang, Gyeonggi province.

The 2nd Marine Division said authorities located the private first class at about 6 a.m. on the 2nd. He had received an outing pass on the 29th of the previous month and left without an accompanying senior soldier, but did not return by the scheduled time.

The military said it began tracing his whereabouts after he failed to report back. He was not carrying a firearm or other military equipment when he left. Military investigators plan to question him about the circumstances of his absence.
