The wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Begoña Gómez, faces serious charges including embezzlement, influence peddling, and business corruption. Judge Juan Carlos Peinado has formally processed Gómez in a case that has been under investigation for two years. The investigation was initiated based on a complaint filed by the private group Manos Limpias, which accused Gómez of leveraging her position to sway business agreements. Specifically, the inquiry is looking into whether Gómez improperly influenced business deals and if public funds were misused in connection with her professional activities. While the judge has excluded the charge of professional intrusion due to a lack of solid evidence, the core allegations of corruption and influence peddling remain. Gómez is currently traveling with her husband on an official trip to China.
