Spain has won the World Cup, defeating holders Argentina 1-0 in a dramatic extra-time final that shattered Lionel Messi's hopes for a triumphant World Cup farewell. Barcelona striker Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute, capping a dominant performance by the Spanish team.
