Spain seeks 75 missing citizens after Colombia earthquake

Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to locate 75 Spanish citizens unaccounted for after a powerful earthquake struck Colombia earlier this week. The ministry confirmed it has no reports of Spanish fatalities but is urging all Spaniards in the affected areas to contact the embassy or consulate.

The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet been able to locate 75 Spaniards who are unaccounted for after the earthquake last Monday in Colombia.

Minister José Manuel Albares announced that the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) will immediately release one million euros in aid. This funding will address the most basic needs of the Colombian population, including shelter materials, water and sanitation kits, and essential medicines. The aid package will also support the deployment of healthcare personnel.

The earthquake, measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale according to the Colombian Geological Service, is the most significant in the country this century. It has impacted multiple regions, resulting in at least 240 deaths and extensive material damage. Spanish authorities have made emergency consular phone lines available on social media for citizens and their families seeking information or assistance.
