Spain will keep six Premier Padel tournaments next year, with one expected to move elsewhere from 2028

Spain will keep its prominent place on the Premier Padel calendar next year, but the country is expected to give up one tournament from 2028 as the circuit reaches for new markets.

Joan Cuscó, president of Esedos Padel, which promotes Premier Padel tournaments in Spain, said the 2027 calendar had not been fully confirmed. He expects it to remain about 90 percent similar to the 2026 schedule, which included P1 events in Madrid, Málaga and Valencia, P2 tournaments in Valladolid and Gijón, and the season-ending finals in Barcelona in December.

Cuscó said Premier Padel’s global growth made it difficult to justify keeping six Spanish events indefinitely. The circuit has 25 tournaments, he noted, and needs to bring competitions to other countries. He said Madrid would be among the Spanish events to remain and would gain even greater importance.

He also expressed confidence that Madrid would host a fifth major if Premier Padel adds one to the current events in Qatar, Rome, Paris and Mexico. Cuscó said the additional major would not dramatically change the competition, describing the distinction as largely a matter of status, but argued that Madrid should be the chosen city.

Over the next two or three years, he expects the circuit to move away from smaller cities and focus more on major urban centers. Australia could become one of the new markets. Esedos Padel has an agreement to stage tournaments in Spain through 2032 with the circuit led by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and Cuscó described the partnership as one that could last for life, while acknowledging that much work remains.
