Spanish Super Cup to be held in Istanbul Feb. 2-7, 2027

Istanbul will host the 2027 Spanish Super Cup, marking the first time the tournament takes place in Turkey. The event is scheduled for February 2-7, 2027, and will feature top Spanish clubs FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Atlético de Madrid. The announcement was made by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

This move signifies a change in venue after the competition was held in Saudi Arabia from 2022. The RFEF explained that the tournament will return to Saudi Arabia in 2028, as the 2027 dates clash with the Asia Cup hosted by the Middle Eastern country. Istanbul was chosen after evaluating "up to seven offers from locations around the globe."

FC Barcelona, under coach Hansi Flick, will defend their title in Turkey. They won the previous edition by defeating Real Madrid 3-2 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The RFEF highlighted that the agreement ensures the continuation of financial benefits for Spanish football, with funds directly supporting nearly a thousand clubs across all male and female categories.
