Specialists hard to find: Why companies struggle to hire the right employees

Recruitment challenges are intensifying for Polish companies, with a growing number anticipating difficulties in finding suitable employees. A recent survey by recruitment firm Hays Poland revealed that 52% of employers expect hiring struggles in the second half of 2026, an increase from 47% at the beginning of the year. Furthermore, almost one in four companies predict that acquiring new staff will be even more challenging in the latter half of the year than in the first six months.

These concerns are mirrored by ambitious hiring plans. The survey, which polled 500 employers in June and July, found that 90% of them intended to recruit new personnel as they entered the second half of 2026. A significant portion, 43%, anticipates a higher volume of recruitment compared to the first half of the year.

While some of these new hires will be replacements for departing employees, the primary driver for recruitment is business expansion. A substantial 44% of companies cited business development as the main reason for their planned hiring initiatives. This indicates a strong outlook for growth among Polish businesses, despite the acknowledged difficulties in securing the necessary talent.
