Split Mayor Comments on Coalition Partner Kerum's Arrest, Stresses Cooperation with Council President

Split Mayor Tomislav Šuta addressed the recent arrest of Željko Kerum, a key figure in the Croatian Civic Party (HGS) and a coalition partner of the HDZ in Split. Šuta clarified his position regarding the ongoing legal proceedings against Kerum.

Šuta highlighted that Kerum is not a member of the Split City Council nor actively participates in its work. Instead, the Mayor emphasized his strong and productive collaboration with the City Council President, Igor Stanišić. He expressed confidence in continued support from HGS councilors for projects vital to Split's development and the interests of its citizens.

As is known, Mr. Željko Kerum is not a member of the City Council of the City of Split nor does he participate in its work. With the President of the City Council Igor Stanišić, we are achieving quality cooperation and expect continued support from the councilors of the Croatian Civic Party in the implementation of projects that are important for the development of Split and the interests of its citizens.

Regarding the specific case involving Kerum, Šuta stated that it is a matter for the competent institutions to handle. He asserted that Kerum will present his side of the story within the legal framework. The Mayor concluded by declining to comment on the ongoing investigation or act as Kerum's representative, maintaining a professional distance from the judicial process.
