Spring break 2026: When will the September recess be?

Students across Uruguay will enjoy a five-day spring break next year, scheduled from September 21 to September 25, 2026. The National Public Education Administration (ANEP) has confirmed these dates, marking the final recess before the academic year concludes.

The break will apply to students in early childhood education, primary school, integrated basic education (EBI), and secondary education, including both general high schools and technical schools throughout the country. This extended period offers a significant pause before the final push towards the end of the school year.

While the spring break provides a mid-semester respite, the end of the academic year will be staggered. Classes for Integrated Basic Education and Secondary Education (both general and technical) are set to finish on Friday, November 27, 2026. In contrast, early childhood and primary school students will continue until Friday, December 18, 2026, which will include the end-of-course ceremonies.

Additionally, the calendar includes a final Teacher Technical Assembly (ATD) for early childhood and primary education on Monday, November 9, 2026, during which no classes will be held in public or private schools. Dates for a similar assembly in secondary education are still to be determined.
