Stable '8 Años' Sweeps Classics in Tribute to Former Jockey Club President

The '8 Años' stable achieved a significant triumph, claiming both classic races held in homage to the late Antonio "Chiqui" Coscia Campos, former president of the Jockey Club of Paraguay. The prestigious event, which took place this past Sunday, saw the stable's thoroughbreds Big Mac and Show Emotion emerge victorious in the colt and filly classics, respectively.

Both winning horses were expertly trained by Albino Cáceres. Big Mac, ridden by jockey Marco Meza, claimed the colt's classic over 1,400 meters with an impressive time of 1 minute and 29.96 seconds. He remained undefeated in his three career starts. Shortly after, Show Emotion, guided by jockey Alcides Coronel, secured the filly's classic over the same distance, clocking in at 1 minute and 30.60 seconds, completing a hat-trick for Coronel.

The race day, number 18, featured several other competitive events. Guapo, from the J.C. stable and also ridden by Alcides Coronel, won the first race over 1,000 meters in 1 minute and 3.05 seconds. In the handicap for superior fillies, Once Again of the 22 de Septiembre stable, with jockey Juan Román aboard, won over 1,100 meters in 1 minute and 8.42 seconds. The J.C. stable also celebrated a win with Macho Furioso in a 1,000-meter race, finishing in 1 minute and 1.90 seconds.

The day's finale provided a thrilling spectacle as Don Rubí, handled by Juan Román, and Great Surprise, with Javier Portillo, crossed the finish line in a dead heat over 1,200 meters, both recording a time of 1 minute and 18.63 seconds. Jesús Campos, owner of the '8 Años' stud, expressed his sentiments following Big Mac's victory, dedicating the win to Antonio Campos.
