Starc dethrones Bumrah to become world's No.1 Test bowler

Australian pace bowler Mitchell Starc has reached the pinnacle of Test cricket, claiming the world's No.1 ranking for the first time in his career. This achievement dethroned India's Jasprit Bumrah, who had held the top spot for a significant period.

Starc's ascent was fueled by his exceptional performance in the recent two-Test series against Bangladesh, where he was named Player of the Series. His 10-wicket haul in the second Test proved decisive in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings. This marks a career-first for the 36-year-old left-arm pacer, who has consistently been a top-10 bowler throughout his 15-year career.

Following Starc's rise, Jasprit Bumrah has fallen to second in the rankings, with New Zealand's Matt Henry dropping to third. Australian captain Pat Cummins has moved up to fourth after a strong showing with the ball against Bangladesh. Spinner Nathan Lyon also climbed two spots to secure the 10th position.

The rankings also saw notable movements for England's Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue, who gained places after their impactful performances against Pakistan. In the batting rankings, Harry Brook and Joe Root of England remain first and second, respectively, with Australia's Steve Smith and Travis Head close behind. India's Rishabh Pant made a significant jump to joint seventh after a brisk half-century.
