State government to assess aid for family of three killed in lorry accident

The state government is evaluating the form of assistance to be provided to the family of three who tragically died in a road accident involving a lorry from the Malaysian Immigration Department. The incident, which occurred on Jalan Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpur, claimed the lives of a retired soldier and his two daughters.

Datuk Salbiah Mohamed, the Chairperson of Women Development, Family Welfare, Entrepreneurship Development, and Cooperatives, stated that the Social Welfare Department (JKM) will conduct follow-up visits to ascertain the family's specific needs. Assistance may include psychosocial support and monthly aid to help the family cope with their loss and continue their lives.

She noted that the mother of the deceased, who was also involved in the accident, is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Kuala Lumpur Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. JKM's follow-up actions will also focus on providing moral support to the grieving family.

The accident happened around 1 a.m. and involved a lorry from the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) colliding with the victims, identified as retired soldier Shaik Mohd. Firdaus Shaikh Yahya, 53, and his daughters Siti Nor Sazlin, 25, and Siti Darwisyah Auni, 12. The victims were walking at the time of the collision. Salbiah mentioned that while the family has not yet requested to bring the injured mother back to Perak, JKM will assess the situation upon her recovery and potential return.
