State of emergency declared in Trebinje due to widespread fires

The city administration of Trebinje has declared a state of emergency as significant fires rage across the region. The blazes are spreading rapidly through the Zupci municipality, moving towards the border with Montenegro, and also affecting the Obodina city landfill.

This morning, the fire line encircling Trebinje extended for an extensive 25 kilometers. All available resources are currently engaged in fighting the fire at the city landfill, which ignited around midday. Despite the severity of the situation, traffic has been reopened on the main Trebinje-Herceg Novi road.

However, the fire continues its advance, having crossed the highway and now spreading towards Strač hill. Fortunately, the nearby village of Gornje Čičevo has not yet been impacted. Authorities from the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska have launched an investigation into the cause of these destructive fires.
