State of Mexico certifies over 128,000 motorcyclists, issues 123,000 licenses

The State of Mexico's Secretariat of Mobility (Semov) has successfully evaluated over 128,000 motorcyclists since the certification process began on January 7, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance the safety of motorcycle users and encourage the use of certified helmets.

From the start of the program until July 15, 2026, Semov issued 123,753 new type C licenses for motorcyclists. In 2025, 67,544 licenses were processed, followed by 56,209 in the current year, 2026. The certification involves both theoretical and practical assessments.

Juan Hugo de la Rosa García, the Secretary of Mobility, highlighted the increasing use of motorcycles, noting their importance for delivery services. He stressed the necessity of maintaining evaluation and certification processes. Alejandro Palacios Estrada, director of License and Operator Registration, explained that the difference between the number of certifications and licenses issued is due to some users not completing both procedures simultaneously.

The certification costs 460 pesos, while licenses vary in price depending on their duration: 777 pesos for one year, 1,040 pesos for two years, 1,390 pesos for three years, and 1,848 pesos for four years. Semov operates seven certification modules across the State of Mexico, located in Cuautitlán Izcalli, Toluca, Nezahualcóyotl, Ecatepec, Tlalnepantla, Chimalhuacán, and Chalco.
