Stellantis Recalls Over 1.5 Million Vehicles for Seatbelt Issue

Stellantis announced a significant recall affecting more than 1.5 million vehicles, primarily its Ram 1500 pickup trucks, over concerns related to seatbelt assembly. The company stated that the seatbelts in these vehicles may have been incorrectly installed, posing a heightened risk of injury to passengers during a collision.

The recall encompasses Ram 1500 pickup trucks produced from 2019 up to the current model year. According to reports, the potential malfunction stems from seatbelts that might not be properly secured, which could compromise their effectiveness in protecting occupants in an accident.

This safety campaign is extensive, with approximately 1.3 million affected trucks in the United States. Canada will see nearly 160,000 vehicles recalled, while Mexico will have around 15,000 units included. An additional 75,000 vehicles are subject to the recall outside of North America.

Reuters reported that the improperly fastened seatbelts could increase the possibility of passenger injury. Stellantis has initiated this recall to address the potential safety hazard and ensure compliance with safety standards.
