STIQ Ar-Rahman Graduates Urged to Make Quran Life's Guide

At the 5th Bachelor's Graduation and Honorary Lecture of STIQ Ar-Rahman in Bogor, Dr. (HC) KH Bachtiar Nashir, a prominent figure in Islamic education, urged graduates to integrate the Quran into their lives not just as a text, but as a guiding operating system. He highlighted a critical issue: the disconnect between extensive engagement with the Quran and its tangible impact on personal character, life decisions, and societal structures.

Nashir argued that the challenge lies not merely in accessing the Quran, but in developing effective methodologies to deepen comprehension, extract divine guidance (hidayah), and translate these insights into consistent actions that shape character. He introduced his concept, "The Quran as the Operating System for Life," proposing a framework where understanding derived from the Quran functions as a control system for decision-making, self-evaluation, and habit formation.

Further elaborating on his approach, Nashir presented "Predictive Tadabbur." This method involves reading Quranic verses to anticipate the outcomes of life choices, based on cause-and-effect patterns described in divine revelation, without venturing into predicting the unseen. He stressed that this framework is an open scientific endeavor, inviting scholarly review and empirical testing.

Professor Syamsuddin Arif of Universitas Islam Gontor, present at the event, lauded Nashir's concepts of Tadabbur and Hidayah. He encouraged the systematic development of these ideas, suggesting the establishment of a "Quranic Tadabbur and Hidayah Laboratory." Professor Arif also proposed evolving these concepts into formal academic programs, such as study programs or specializations, to strengthen the academic foundation and research tradition of Quranic Tadabbur beyond its current role as a da'wah movement.
