Stoltenberg donates millions from book sales to Utøya

Norwegian Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg is making a significant personal contribution to the memorial site of Utøya by donating all earnings from his latest book. The book, titled "På min vakt" (On My Guard), achieved considerable success, ranking as the fourth most sold book in Norway last year, according to TV 2, citing the Booksellers Association.

Stoltenberg's standard contract with his publisher reportedly earns him between 65 to 75 kroner per book sold. He has now pledged this entire amount to Utøya AS, the organization managing the site of the 2011 terrorist attacks. This gesture comes at a critical time for Utøya AS, which reportedly faced a severe financial crisis and was on the brink of bankruptcy in 2024.

"For me, there is nothing more meaningful than being able to help and support Utøya," Stoltenberg told TV 2. The AUF leader, Gaute Børstad Skjervø, confirmed that Utøya AS will receive a total of 3,720,792 kroner from the book sales, highlighting the substantial impact of Stoltenberg's donation.
