Storm, Delay, Sound Issues: Jul's Showcase at V and B Fest Turns into a Fiasco

The closing performance by rapper Jul at the V and B Fest in Château-Gontier was significantly disrupted, leaving many of the nearly 35,000 festival-goers disappointed. The event, which was meant to be an exceptional closing act, was plagued by a storm, a delay of over two hours, and repeated technical incidents, including sound problems and audience whistles.

Jul, known for filling large venues like the Stade de France and Vélodrome, typically does not perform at festivals. However, the V and B Fest', a smaller festival established in 2019, managed to secure him as a surprise headliner for an additional fifth day dedicated solely to his performance. Festival founder Damien Jahier mentioned that the decision to add Jul was made rapidly, within 48 hours, after a last-minute opportunity arose in late June.

Fans endured a lengthy wait, with the rapper arriving more than two hours late. The atmosphere, already affected by the weather, further deteriorated due to technical glitches during the performance. This showcase was intended to be a highlight of the festival, which has previously hosted artists such as Robbie Williams, Moby, and Damso. The last-minute addition of Jul was considered a significant coup for the Mayenne-based festival.
