Stormy Cyclone System Approaching Lithuania, Bringing Rain and Thunder

Lithuania is set to experience a significant shift in weather as a stormy cyclone system approaches, bringing an end to the current calmer conditions.

Meteorologist Elvyra Latvėnaitė reported that the anticyclone 'Steffen' is moving east, making way for a more active cyclone named Raphaela, which is traveling with a wavy atmospheric front towards Scandinavia. While Friday is expected to be rain-free, a stronger southeasterly wind will pick up, particularly in western and southwestern regions, accompanied by a warmer air mass.

Anticyclone, named Steffen, with calmer, brighter, but still refreshing weather, is slowly moving east. From the west, with a wavy atmospheric front, a moister and more unsettled cyclone, named Raphaela, is traveling closer to Scandinavia. It will not reach us on Friday, so there will be no rain, but the southeasterly wind will already blow stronger during the day, mostly in the western, southwestern regions, it will be a bit warmer, as a warmer air mass will reach us from the south.

Saturday will see the arrival of the atmospheric front's clouds, with rain beginning in the western and southwestern parts of the country by midday. These rain clouds will then spread across Lithuania, bringing moderate to heavy rainfall. Temperatures will remain warm, though cooler in the westernmost areas.

From Sunday, a more consistently rainy and unsettled cyclone system will establish itself over Northern Europe, with its associated cloud fronts expected to affect the Baltic region and Lithuania. Occasional thunderstorms are also predicted. The beginning of the following week, starting Tuesday, will bring stronger gusts of wind from the west and southwest, with temperatures remaining relatively warm. However, a slight cooling is anticipated in the latter half of the week, though rain is expected to continue.
