Students announce memorial walk 22 months after canopy collapse that killed 16

Students participating in a blockade movement have announced a memorial walk in Belgrade on Tuesday, September 1. The event will commemorate 22 months since the tragic collapse of a canopy at the Novi Sad train station, an incident that claimed the lives of 16 individuals.

The memorial walk is scheduled to begin at 7 PM from Savski Trg, as announced by the students via their Instagram account. The students expressed their determination to ensure accountability for the tragedy.

"While they evade responsibility and justice for 22 months, we are taking to the streets again to remind them that they will have to answer for the deaths of 16 innocent people," the students stated in their announcement. They emphasized that the memory of the victims will not fade.

The announcement included a list of some of the victims, with their birth years, highlighting the young age of many who lost their lives in the incident. The students' initiative underscores their commitment to seeking justice and remembrance for those affected by the disaster.
