Students to Protest Near State Palace Against Prabowo Policies

Student organizations from across Indonesia are preparing to protest near the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday, June 15, 2026. The demonstration, organized by groups including the Student Executive Board of Bung Karno University (BEM UBK), carries the theme "Overhaul of Indonesia."

Those who have confirmed to join come from Paramadina University, Pamulang, Trilogi, Stiami Institute, and PTIQ.

Organizers have outlined six main demands for President Prabowo Subianto's government. These include a temporary suspension and evaluation of the free nutritious meal project and the Kopdes Merah Putih (Red and White Village Cooperative). They also call for a review of the Police Law, an end to militarism, and upholding civilian supremacy.

Further demands focus on economic stability, urging the government to take strategic steps to maintain the rupiah's exchange rate and national economic resilience. The students also demand inclusive, quality, and affordable education for all Indonesians. Finally, they are calling for a review of fuel price increases, citing the burden on the public.

Lastly, we demand the government to review the increase in fuel prices as it burdens the public.

BEM UBK anticipates a turnout of around 200 people, but expects the number to grow with participation from other campus organizations. This planned protest follows a similar demonstration by the University of Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM UI) alliance on June 12, 2026, which was met by security forces.
