Study finds tourists from this country are widely seen as the most polite

Japanese tourists were rated the most polite in a survey of tourism officials conducted by SafariBookings, an online platform that organizes African safaris. They received 21.1% of the responses in the politeness category, ahead of Norwegians at 10.6% and Swiss visitors at 10.4%.

Canadians and Americans also ranked among the better-rated visitors, while Italians came last in the category. Only 1.3% of tourism officials selected them as the most polite guests.

The survey covered 192 tourism officials and asked them to assess visitors from different countries for politeness, tipping, spending, appetite for adventure and interest in food. Americans led the tipping category with 29.5% of responses. Germans followed with 13.1%, ahead of Canadians at 10% and Swiss visitors at 8.6%.

Americans also ranked first for total spending during trips, receiving 24% of responses. Germans and Canadians tied for second at 12.8% each. Germans were considered the most adventurous, with 21.1% of officials selecting them, followed by French visitors at 17.8% and Dutch visitors at 11%.

Britons and Indians each received 4.5% in the adventure category, while Spaniards received 4.3%, suggesting those groups were viewed as more inclined toward relaxed holidays. India topped the food-motivated travel category, followed by Japan and France. China ranked fourth, the Netherlands fifth at 7.7%, and Italy sixth at 7.6%. An official from Zanzibar said many European guests show particular interest in wildlife behavior and often ask detailed questions about animals and conservation.
