Stunning allegation against Yeni Parti’s Talat Yalaz: Where did the earthquake donations go? A notable AHBAP connection

A political dispute in Eskişehir has focused on donations collected after the Kahramanmaraş-centred earthquakes and whether the money reached people affected by the disaster.

Gürhan Albayrak, the AK Party’s Eskişehir provincial chair, accused former and current CHP figures, as well as the Yeni Parti provincial chair, of giving contradictory accounts. He said donations had been collected through a structure associated with AHBAP but were not delivered to the places where they were needed.

Albayrak said the Yeni Parti chair should publish documents showing the total amount collected and where the money was sent. He criticised what he called vague and conflicting statements, citing an appearance on a television programme in which the money was initially acknowledged before later denials were allegedly made.

The new provincial chair needs to present the documents, disclose the amount of money they collected and publicly share where they sent this money.

“We are saddened on behalf of Eskişehir,” Albayrak said. He argued that the public deserved documentary evidence rather than competing statements, and said the AK Party was following the issue closely.

Albayrak added that the controversy could develop further and said it might have a judicial aspect. He said relevant institutions may already be monitoring that process, while his party would continue to track developments and make further public statements.
