Suicide Bombing Kills 13, Including 8 Police Officers, in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A suicide bombing near a police station in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has killed at least 13 people, including eight police officers. The attack occurred at the entrance to a police station in the Swat region, where authorities are grappling with a resurgence of militant activity.

According to Fida Hussain, deputy superintendent of Swat police, the bomber attempted to enter the police station but was intercepted by officers at the main gate. The resulting explosion killed the bomber and 12 others, while injuring 22 people. Another body, believed to be that of the bomber, was brought to the hospital. No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

This incident occurs in a province that has seen a significant increase in militant violence. In a separate event in Peshawar, the provincial capital, four police officers were injured by a homemade bomb, an attack claimed by the Pakistani Taliban. Security forces have been actively engaged in operations against militants in the region. Pakistan has previously accused Afghanistan of harboring militants, leading to diplomatic tensions and border clashes between the two countries. The Taliban government in Kabul denies involvement in cross-border militant activities.
