Sultan of Pahang Orders Demolition of Illegal Foreigner Settlements

Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah of Pahang has ordered authorities to take drastic action and demolish any illegal settlements established by foreign nationals, particularly those built on government land within the state. The Sultan voiced deep concern over the uncontrolled expansion of these settlements, where some foreign nationals are reportedly exploiting the hospitality and tolerance shown to them.

Today, we see areas filled with foreign workers to the point that local residents feel like strangers in their own place. There are business premises that are almost entirely dependent on foreign labor.

His Highness noted that certain areas are now dominated by foreign workers, making local residents feel like strangers in their own communities. He also observed that many businesses are heavily reliant on foreign labor, and these settlements are growing without adequate oversight. The Sultan emphasized that this situation transcends immigration issues, posing risks to national security, sovereignty, and the future of the nation's children.

This is not just an immigration issue. It is a national security issue. It is a sovereignty issue. It is an issue for the future of our children and grandchildren.

"Pahang and Malaysia are not lands that can be occupied at will without respecting the law," the Sultan stated during a state award ceremony. He stressed that all visitors must understand they are guests in a sovereign land and should respect the laws and the rights of the homeowners. He directed authorities to demolish structures on government land occupied by illegal settlers.

Furthermore, Sultan Abdullah called on the Federal Government to enhance border security, tighten entry procedures for foreigners, and expedite the deportation of undocumented immigrants. He believes that preventing illegal entry at the nation's borders is far more effective than dealing with the complex issues that arise once settlements are established. The Sultan reiterated that while Malaysia welcomes those who come legally to work, invest, or study, this openness should not be mistaken for weakness in sovereignty or an invitation to be exploited.

If there are illegal settlements by foreign nationals in this state, I command the authorities to take drastic action by demolishing the involved building structures, especially those on government land.
