Sumedang Prosecutors Detain Former Kesbangpol Chief in Suspected Rp1.1 Billion Corruption Case

Sumedang prosecutors have detained a former head of the regency’s National Unity and Politics Agency, known by the initials AT, in a suspected corruption case involving about Rp1.1 billion in state losses.

The detention took place on Tuesday night after AT answered a summons and underwent questioning from around 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Prosecutors then transferred him to the Class IIB Sumedang prison at about 9 p.m.

AT will be held for 20 days, with any extension to depend on the progress of the investigation. Prosecutors allege that the case involves misuse of budget funds from 2024 to 2025, but they have not yet disclosed the suspected method.

The Sumedang district prosecutor’s office has named two suspects: AT and a private-sector individual identified as AS. Only AT has been detained so far. Prosecutors are still questioning AS and assessing whether he is cooperating or might return funds.

Raden Timur Ibnu Rudianto, head of intelligence at the prosecutor’s office, said AT had cooperated and attended the summons. He said investigators were continuing to examine the wider alleged misuse of funds at the Sumedang Kesbangpol agency.
