Super Giants thrash dismal Spirit at Lord's

Manchester Super Giants began their Hundred campaign with a dominant seven-wicket victory over London Spirit at Lord's. The Super Giants bowlers, led by Ryana MacDonald-Gay, skittled out the Spirit for just 80 runs in 91 balls.

MacDonald-Gay was the standout performer with the ball, taking four wickets for 17 runs. She was supported by Sophie Ecclestone and Deandra Dottin, who contributed to Spirit's early struggles. Only four Spirit batters reached double figures, with Marizanne Kapp top-scoring with 17.

Chasing a modest target of 81, the Super Giants, playing under their new name after previously being known as Manchester Originals, made steady progress. Smriti Mandhana and captain Meg Lanning built a solid foundation with a 33-run opening partnership. Despite losing Mandhana and Lanning, Paige Scholfield's unbeaten 22 and Richa Ghosh's quickfire 15 ensured a swift victory with 22 balls to spare.
