Survey: Latvia Should Cooperate Most with Baltic and Nordic Countries

Latvia should primarily focus its foreign policy on cooperation with its Baltic and Nordic neighbors, according to a recent survey. The poll reveals a clear preference among a significant portion of the population for strengthening ties within this specific geopolitical bloc.

The survey, commissioned by Delfi and conducted by SKDS, found that 30.3% of respondents identified the Baltic and Nordic countries as the most important partners for Latvia. This suggests a strategic alignment based on geographical proximity, shared interests, and potentially historical connections.

When asked to comment on which direction Latvia's foreign policy should emphasize most, the respondents' answers pointed towards a desire for enhanced regional collaboration. This focus implies a belief that working closely with Estonia, Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland offers the greatest benefits for Latvia's security, economy, and international standing.
