Suspect Arrested in Student's Public Transport Murder; Total Detainees Reach Three

State of Mexico prosecutors have arrested Cristian Daniel "N" for his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of a student from the National Autonomous University of Mexico's (UNAM) FES Zaragoza campus. The student reportedly resisted a robbery attempt on public transport on July 16. The incident occurred as the bus traveled along the Mexico-Puebla highway near the Santa Catarina Yecahuizot neighborhood.

With this latest arrest, authorities have now detained three individuals connected to the crime. Fausto "N" and María Luisa "N" were previously apprehended; they are accused of using a vehicle to facilitate the escape of the perpetrators. The investigation, conducted by the State Attorney General's Office (FGJEM) with assistance from the state security agency, identified a group specializing in robbing passenger transport along the Mexico-Puebla highway using a consistent modus operandi.

According to the FGJEM, the suspects boarded the public transport vehicle and threatened passengers with a firearm, demanding their belongings. The FES Zaragoza student allegedly refused to hand over his possessions, leading to him being shot. He succumbed to his injuries on the bus. Investigators reconstructed the suspects' movements before and after the crime, which led to the arrests.

Cristian Daniel "N" was apprehended on the federal Mexico-Puebla highway. At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of packages containing suspected drugs. He has been presented to judicial authorities who will determine his legal status.
