Suspect in assault case Taufik Hidayat arrested; more victims may exist

Taufik Hidayat, wanted for alleged assault, has been apprehended by police in Majalaya, Bandung, concluding a two-week manhunt. The arrest followed his flight from Tangerang and subsequent return to a relative's home.

The Lembaga Perlindungan Saksi dan Korban (LPSK), or the Witness and Victim Protection Agency, has indicated that the initial victim, identified by the initials YTR, may not be the only one. LPSK Deputy Chairperson Susilaningtyas stated that the agency is investigating information about other potential victims and urged anyone who believes they have been victimized by Taufik Hidayat to come forward and seek protection.

Social media platforms had previously buzzed with accusations from various accounts claiming to be victims of Taufik Hidayat's actions. These claims surfaced shortly before his apprehension.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan confirmed the arrest, stating that Taufik Hidayat was tracked through his online transactions. The police team located him in the Majalaya residential area. Rudi confirmed that no other individuals were found to be assisting Taufik Hidayat during his time on the run, indicating he acted alone.
